In Ivano-Frankivsk, the case of a lyceum student who was sent home for not following the dress code is being actively discussed.
This was reported by the Department of Education and Science of the Ivano-Frankivsk City Council.
According to the Department, clothing cannot be a reason to restrict the right to education, which is guaranteed to everyone. They immediately turned to the head of the lyceum for explanations. The director confirmed that the school had clothing guidelines known to all participants in the educational process and their parents. However, he emphasized that the situation arose from a misunderstanding, and no one intended to offend or discriminate against the student.

The lyceum has recently received the status of a specialized educational institution with a scientific profile, which may imply certain requirements for students’ appearance. The department called for mutual respect and provided contacts to address such situations.
The Department of Education and Science forwarded the information and the appeal of the lyceum student’s mother to the educational institution.
We call on all participants in the educational process to respect each other in this difficult time for our country.
