In Ivano-Frankivsk, law enforcement officers detained a man who extorted money by blackmailing a woman he knew. The operation was conducted by investigators of the Investigative Department together with operatives of the Criminal Investigation Department and the Cybercrime Department of the Ivano-Frankivsk region, with the support of the UKORD special forces.
According to the investigation, a 36-year-old resident of Ivano-Frankivsk exerted psychological pressure on a 37-year-old woman he knew. He demanded 40,000 hryvnias from her, threatening to disclose information he had invented about her private life that could harm her reputation in society.
The victim had already transferred part of the money to the blackmailer, but law enforcement quickly intervened. While searching his apartment, they seized evidence: bank cards and a cell phone with threatening messages.

The suspect was detained on a street in Ivano-Frankivsk and taken to court, where a pre-trial restraint will be imposed shortly. According to the sanction of the article, he faces imprisonment for a term of seven to twelve years with confiscation of property.
